What is compost?:

Composting acts as nature’s recycling system taking kitchen scraps, yard clippings, and other organic materials and transforming them into stronger and more robust fertilizer. This “black gold” dirt is loaded with beneficial organisms and improves soil fertility while also providing a long-term nutrient source for plants.

Why do we compost?

Composting creates healthier environments by giving life to plants while also reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and keeping trash out of landfills. Compost also increases microbial activity, suppresses plant disease, enables soil to better hold essential nutrients, improves soil structure, increases water retention, and enhances soil fertility. When we compost we are also choosing to divert waste from landfills, saving space and conserving resources like water and energy.
