45 Ideas: Kirstin Vander Giessen-Reitsma

We asked friends, neighbors, and community partners to give us their ideas for the brand-new Imaginarium once it’s completed. There’s still time to submit YOUR idea for the Imaginarium for a chance to win a sweet Huss Project prize pack!

Here’s what Kirstin Vander Giessen-Reitsma said:

Where in Three Rivers is someone likely to spot you, and what would you be doing there?

People might see me out at GilChrist Retreat Center where I’m a caretaker, feeding the pony and goat, walking the trails, showing guests around. Or maybe in downtown Three Rivers where I live and volunteer at World Fare.

What is your connection to Huss?

I was part of the group that organized to purchase the Huss property in 2009 and I’ve been a volunteer ever since with the garden, service-learning groups, Huss Future Fest–basically whatever needs doing and whatever we dream up!

The Huss Project is working on turning the old kindergarten room into a cool new space with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and room for community events. What’s your most creative idea for something that could happen there?

I would love to see a film festival featuring short films about life in Three Rivers. Or a field trip club, where we meet at the Huss Project to learn about a topic and then go visit a location in our community related to that topic. Or a reading club, where you can earn sweet rewards for spending time reading or helping someone read. Or music listening nights when we share about our favorite songs. Or ALL OF THE ABOVE!
