First Family Fun Night a roaring success

Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night

Setting up this past Tuesday evening, we hoped for but never expected the neighborhood-clearing success of our very first Family Fun Night of 2013! We had over 20 people show up to play kickball and basketball, compete in board games, blow bubbles, and make crafty, yarn-based cat’s eye…things. There was music, fresh scones made with local strawberries, and lots of laughter as people came together and lived some life. We even managed to get some gardening done around all the fun and games.

Obviously the crowning moment of the night came as two rough and tumble teams squared off against one another in the fiercest, most glorious kickball game possibly of all time. There were tears and laughter, an injury or two, and a couple of monstrous, base-clearing home runs. Though there was no clear winner to the contest, everyone walked away feeling very satisfied with their kicks and throws and sportsmanship.

Not to be outdone, the craft table produced some works of art that will probably be featured in many exhibitions around the globe in the coming future. Who knew such magic could be produced with such simple media as twigs and yarn? Yet, the proof is obvious.

Last night was clear evidence of one important thing: if you aren’t coming out to Family Fun Nights on Tuesdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m., you are missing out on something special. Fortunately, the cure to that ailment is simply to come out next Tuesday and have some fun of your own! See you there.
