One year ago today, we announced our most audacious plan yet for the Huss Project: we were going to try to raise $50,000, have it matched with a $50,000 grant from the State of Michigan, and then build a Front Porch Pavilion and new public space called the Imaginarium on the north end of Huss. Spoiler alert: WE DID IT!
The emphasis, of course, is on the “we.” Nothing we’ve done at the Huss Project could have been accomplished without the generous support of neighbors and friends, both near and far. You donated more than we’ve ever raised before and then you volunteered 1000s of hours to make the Imaginarium a reality.
We are now entering a new phase at the Huss Project where we’re designing and implementing pilot programs, exploring community partnerships, and developing sustainable revenue streams. We started an AmeriCorps VISTA program this summer, which is providing us with full-time help to build our organization’s capacity. But we need more financial stability to be able to dream big about how we might work together to build our community’s capacity for imagination.
So we need your support more than ever! Today we’re launching Friends of Huss, a new group of monthly donors who will provide the ongoing financial support we need to sustain the good work at the Huss Project. Our goal is to have 100 Friends of Huss by the end of 2019 to help celebrate the centennial of the Huss building. Friends of Huss will receive a monthly e-mail update about our work at Huss, plus a token of our appreciation after the first six months:
- $10/mo. or more: Receive a Huss Project sticker and a 1919 replica postcard.
- $25/mo. or more: Everything above, plus a ceramic Huss Centennial commemorative ornament, handcrafted by the *cino community.
- $50/mo. or more: Everything above, plus a Huss Project water bottle and t-shirt.
- $100/mo. or more: Everything above, plus dinner for eight, prepared and served by the *cino resident community, or a very special box of homemade goodies for those who live afar!
