Picnic table workshop at the Huss Project

Thanks to a generous grant from the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM), we have the opportunity on June 7 to host a Picnic Table Workshop at the Huss Project. The idea behind the workshop is to teach participants how to build picnic tables while building several tables for use in an outdoor pavilion that will facilitate summer programming at  the Huss Project. While the pavilion planning is still underway, having picnic tables at Huss will be a great asset in the coming summer months for things like Community Fun Nights and Future Festival.

Our instructors for the program are local woodworkers John Howie and Willard Fenton-Miller, who bring with them years of building experience and a willingness to pass on their accumulated knowledge to others.

If this sounds intriguing to you, come on down to the Huss Project on June 7! We will start the workshop at 9:00am and plan to work until roughly 1:00pm depending on how many people we have working and how many tables we’re able to build. We hope to see you there!

(Note: our tables will be for people, not bears. But the picture above is just too funny not to share!)
