Come out to our creative workshops at The Huss Project! Work with creatives Aundrea Syrie and Great Dane to make, fine tune, and share a piece of creative writing, written uniquely by you! You’ll also have the chance to share your work at Future Fest. Sign up at summer lunches, we have four more slots available! Ages 4-18 are welcome.

About the Artists:

A native of Phoenix, Arizona Aundrea Sayrie first learned to love words as a foster child and used to them as a way to make sense of the world around her, and heal. In high school she became fully aware of her talents through accolades, performances, and the opportunity to perform for, and dine with Dr. Maya Angelou’s family. After seeing closed doors open one after another, she is a firm believer in the power of words, faith and a strong spirit, she expresses themes of self love and purposeful living through poetry. Her greatest desire is to encourage those around her to discover and honor their truth, and to passionately live on purpose.

Dana M. Hudson, known on stage as Great Dane, is a creative from Detroit, MI with a passion for empowering and uplifting the voices of others to influence cultural change. She is the creator and host of For The Good Open Mic, a monthly show at First Baptist Church happening every third Thursday. The show is a labor of love for this culture creator, designed to showcase folks doing good and radical work in the community. In its first year, the show was nominated for 2 National Spoken Word Awards. Great Dane was member of the 2018 Retort United National Slam Team, coming out of Grand Rapids, MI. She is a self-published author who has found a love for hosting and holding space for creative expression. She truly believes that we must do all we can to fight for our freedom. With this in mind, she created the hashtag #EverythingForTheGood to remind us all to do our work, whether it be in arts or activism, for the good.
